My Instagram feed is full of brightly colored graphics reminding me that infertility affects millions of people. They provide statistics and percentages and carefully designed graphics in calming fonts. The posts are well-intentioned, but I find myself thinking the same thing: infertility is a very complicated thing to fit into a square.

Millions of people experience infertility, yet so much of it happens in private: the appointments, the waiting, the grief, the hope, the endless negotiations about a future that may never arrive.
